Guthrie Main Street
Guthrie Main Street is an accredited member of the Kentucky Main Street Program and the National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The downtown districts are the most visible indicator of community pride. It is either an asset or a liability when it comes to bringing new business, industries, retirees, tourists or residents to the community as well as keeping those already here. Quality of life is what separates the successful communities from declining communities.
Our Mission
Guthrie Main Street focuses on preserving the historic fabric and enhancing the charm of our community, encouraging economic growth, and fostering a cooperative spirit in a unique place to visit and a great place to call home.
“In 2019 alone, Guthrie Main Street invested $244,308 in downtown projects and tracked over 5000 volunteer hours.”

Partnered with Pennyrile Area Development for Guthrie Transportation Museum & Welcome Center Grants $1,400,000
Streetscape Grants (sidewalks, lights) $538,960
National Register of Historic Places Grant $5,000
Clean-up of “Alley 3” and old car wash property on Kendall Street
Trails Grant Administration & Design for City of Guthrie (area around caboose museum)
Addition of public restrooms behind Guthrie Transportation Museum & Welcome Center
Longhurst Park - a downtown pocket park on Ewing Street owned and managed by Guthrie Main Street
Music in the Park - a free concert series paid for by Guthrie Main Street (May - September)
Downtown Spooktacular - an annual event the last Saturday of October(a free, fun event for youth)
Purchased the “Abshire Building” on Ewing Street and started renovations
Future project - restoration of the Koppers Engine located by the caboose museum on Kendall
Downtown Beautification Project - planted flowers in downtown containers and added new containers to Longhurst Park.
